Anime Club: LB Anime Club plans for spring term

Wednesday afternoon a group of passionate anime fans gathered together to discuss the upcoming term. While the majority of their peers had left campus for day, this group remained to celebrate a hobby they all enjoyed together.

On the agenda was the task of choosing which series to watch throughout the term. Several options were available, including such titles as Granblue Fantasy, Love Tyrant, and Clockwork Planet.

When audio trouble prevented the club from watching the titles, the conversation quickly took over. “Anime is a great media source for people to broaden their horizons,” said Richard Dugan, president of the Anime Club. “It is a wonderful way for people to explore new forms of media.”

The knowledge of the members about various shows and films was undeniable. The talking points ranged from which classic series each of them were watching to new films such as Ghost in the Shell. Ideas about Western film as opposed to its Japanese counterpart were also discussed.

“Anime is more free expressing feelings and is unafraid of what the mainstream media might think” said Shelby Anderson, longtime club member.

Even without the episodes playing, the hours seemed to fly by, pushed along by good company and insightful conversation.
The club meets Wednesdays 3 to 5 p.m, in Madrone Hall, room 208. Looking forward this term, the club plans to watch a yet to be decided series, as well as work on crafts and play different games. The Anime Club is always welcome to new members of all knowledge levels.

Everyone is encouraged to bring questions and to come ready to share their experiences with others.
